The Story Behind My 2027 Art + Scripture Calendar

More Than a Calendar: The Heart Behind My Art + Scripture Calendars

Every year, when I begin working on a new Art + Scripture Calendar, I’m reminded of why I started creating them in the first place. What began as a creative idea back in 2018 has become something I look forward to making year after year. And somehow, here we are at year TEN! These calendars have become so much more than a collection of pretty paintings and dates on a page. They’re a way for me to bring together two things that are important to me: creating art and memorizing and spending time in God’s Word.

The Heart Behind the Calendars

As an artist, I love color, layers, texture, and the process of bringing something to life on a canvas. But my faith is at the heart of who I am and why I create. I believe creativity is a gift from God, and I want to use that gift in a way that points back to Him. The Art + Scripture Calendars grew out of a desire to combine those passions and create something that would bring a little beauty and encouragement into everyday life. Each month features a new piece of original artwork paired with a meaningful Scripture verse. My hope is that as you turn the page each month, you’ll find a colorful reminder of God’s goodness, a verse to reflect on, and an opportunity to pause and spend a little time in His Word.

Life gets busy, our minds get cluttered, and it’s easy to let the things of this world take up more space in our thoughts than they should. Having Scripture somewhere we can see it is one small way to keep God’s Word in front of us and in our hearts. And one of my favorite things about these calendars is that the artwork and Scripture don’t have to be thrown away when the month is over! You can simply clip off the art and Scripture portion and use it as a Scripture memory card, tuck it into your Bible, or attach it to a page in your prayer journal or Bible study notes. It’s a way to keep those verses close and continue reflecting on them long after the month has passed. I  love the idea that something created to be enjoyed for a month can continue to encourage you throughout the year.

A Decade of Creating with Purpose

The first calendar debuted in 2018, and I’ve continued the tradition every year since. Reaching this tenth year feels pretty special! Each calendar is a labor of love, and there’s a lot more that goes into making it than you might realize. I don’t simply choose artwork from my studio and send it off to be printed. I paint the original artwork for each month, thoughtfully pairing the imagery and colors with Scripture. Then I design the calendar myself, bringing all the pieces together into a finished product. From the first brushstrokes to the final layout, every calendar is something I’ve had a hand in creating. I love that I get to combine my love of painting with the design background I earned long before I ever imagined I’d be making calendars of my own.

It’s a process that takes time, thought, and plenty of creative decisions, but it’s also one of the ways I get to use the gifts God has given me. And knowing these calendars find their way into people’s homes and lives makes all that work worthwhile.Over the years, you’ve made these calendars part of your own traditions, purchased them for friends and family, and come back for another one each year. The fact that they’ve continued to sell out year after year is something I never take for granted. Thank you for welcoming my art and these verses into your homes!

Giving Back

There’s one more part of the calendar that makes it especially meaningful to me: giving back.A portion of the proceeds from every calendar sold goes to Loving Choices of Northwest Arkansas, an organization doing important work to support women and families in our community.I’m grateful for the opportunity to support their work through something I love creating. It’s a reminder that the gifts we’re given can be used for more than ourselves. They can encourage others, serve our communities, and make a difference in ways we may never fully see. When you purchase a calendar, you’re not only bringing original artwork and Scripture into your home. You’re also helping support an organization serving our neighbors right here in Northwest Arkansas. That makes each calendar even more meaningful to me.
