About me!
Arkansas native, Stacy Spangler currently lives in Goshen, Arkansas. Stacy considers herself a self taught artist, and is known for her use of bright color, heavy texture and collage elements in her art. Her playful style has been greatly influenced by over a decade of teaching art to children.
She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and worked many years in corporate marketing. After the birth of her first child, she left the workplace to be a full time-stay at home mom. Stacy grew up with a love for creating, but discovered her passion for painting when she starting teaching art to children from her home in 2007.
Stacy loves teaching and encouraging others to grow their artistic ability, embrace their own style, and use their creative talents to bring more joy into the world. She currently sells her artwork online and in retail boutiques and galleries in the South. She now teaches adults mixed media courses online, and in person through workshops and retreats. Stacy is also an avid art journaling artist, and contributor to Art Journal Kickstarter-Pages and Prompts to Energize your Art Journals, published by North Light Books.
In her spare time, she enjoys biking, being outdoors, reading and spending time cooking, Bible studies and entertaining her family and friends. Stacy and her husband Shannon have three adult children and a grandson and are enjoying life as empty nesters.
Artist Statement:
As a self taught artist, I love the experimentation process and feel my style is constantly evolving. While I use mainly acrylics, you will always catch glimpses of a variety of other elements in my artwork. I enjoy the use of bright color, contrasting values, heavy texture and collage. I use my hands, brushes and a palette knife to build up multiple layers of paint, papers and acrylic medium, resulting in a heavy distressed texture.
I naturally bring a simplistic, light-hearted and whimsical spin on everyday objects, whether flowers, animals or bicycles. I'm always inspired by God's word, something beautiful I've seen in nature, or eye catching color combinations coming from God's amazing color palette. My playful style has been greatly influenced by over a decade of teaching art to children. “I learned so much from years of watching children create-they have no fear in the creative process and have so much fun!”
