What is your "New" for the New Year?

Scripture Memory cards

I'm a dreamer and a goal setter.

A firm believer that if you dream something and want it happen, you have to write it down and have some sort of plan, or you will look up in 1, 5, 10 years down the road, and you will still be dreaming the same dream, but one stained with regret.

I lived that way for years, looking up with the year ending with the "same old, same ole", and wondering how others accomplished so much. I had convinced myself my role was to sit back and cheer on others. As a natural encourager, it's so easy for me to be a cheerleader for others; campaign for them; sell their new idea; champion their cause; but when it came to my passions and dreams, I didn't have the confidence to move in the same way. It was so hard to champion myself.

So what changed?

I finally took just one little step.

I read something this morning that resonated with me, and this idea encompasses the nugget of truth that changed my perspective many years ago, and made me brave enough to start chasing my own dreams. "God can do big with my little" (Cleere Cherry, Cleerely Stated ). My faith may be small, but I know a big God, and I can accomplish much if I fix my gaze on Him instead of others. I don't need to champion myself, I just need to champion Jesus. My 1 year, doesn't need to look like someone's 5 year, and it doesn't even have to have a "look". I just need to take one little step and be moving forward.

I follow author, speaker and podcaster Cleere Cherry @cleerelystated on Instagram for daily encouragement, and I love this quote. "When you're following Jesus, you don't have to wonder if you're missing out on anything good, holy or important for your life. He will bring it into view and give you the strength to walk in it."

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33.

I'm convinced this is the key; the secret sauce; the best plan that will bring your dreams to life. So what's next? Here's 5 simple things I'm in the process of doing to make sure I have New fruit in 2023.

2023 Art + Scripture Calendar1) Reflect on 2022-write down wins and regrets

2) Choose a memory verse for encouragement each month.

3) Write down a prayer to God about my dreams, goals fears and excuses. Ask Him for help. James 1:5-6

4) New planner with one personal goal and one business goal for each quarter-start small. Steps written down on how to achieve these goals and penciled in on calendar.

5) Find an accountability partner, even if it's just someone to meet with once a month to share dreams and ideas and help you to stay on track. It's always great to share perspectives.

Would you like help with your creative dreams for 2023. I'd love to help! My Creating in Him creative community will be open for enrollment in February, and I'd love to share your journey. Also, private coaching slots will be available to help with your business or personal creative planning. My 2023 Art + Scripture calendar is the perfect partner for monthly scripture memory-there's a verse paired with art for each month. Order one HERE while supplies last!
